Berlin integration course – modules and course structure

Our BAMF-funded integration course in Berlin is divided into a language course followed by an orientation course. In total, the general integration course comprises 700 teaching units of 45 minutes each. Across six language modules, each comprising 100 teaching units, you will learn German step by step from A1 to B1. A further 100 teaching units will provide you with important information about life in Germany.

An overview of the six language modules

Module 1 – Basics of the German language: You will learn your first words and sentences, introduce yourself and have simple conversations on personal topics.
Module 2 – Everyday communication: You will explore topics such as family, shopping and housing, and practise communicating in typical everyday situations.
Module 3 – Using German Independently: You will learn to organise meetings and appointments, gather information and communicate more effectively in everyday life.
Module 4 – Communication at Work and in Society: You will expand your language skills for the workplace, visits to the doctor and dealings with public authorities.
Module 5 – Developing language skills: You practise reading more complex texts, describing personal experiences and expressing your views clearly.
Module 6 – Preparation for the B1 qualification: You consolidate what you have learnt, improve your language skills and prepare for the German Test for Immigrants (DTZ).

Orientation course – Getting to know life in Germany

Following the six language modules, you will attend the orientation course, comprising 100 teaching units. This will provide you with important insights into German history, democracy, the legal system and social life. In this way, you will learn to find your way around everyday life in Berlin and within German society. The course concludes with the ‘Leben in Deutschland’ test.
